Princess Decay

An otome / Visual Novel demo for a story set in a rococo-steampunk world, based on my long-running tabletop RPG campaign.

I finished with the first chapter as a demo, and there was a playable version for it in Ren’py and in Twine, but we never got to create the graphics for it in the end, so we just used placeholder images.

The Story

The story is set on an island, where there are two countries: the feudal Kingdom of the Dying Sun and the rococo-steampunk Western Duchy of the Wheel Empire.

Princess Lantea is the heiress of the Kingdom’s throne, and she gets engaged to the mysterious Archduke of the Duchy. Due to politics and intrigue she has to travel to the Duchy in secret, accompanied by a soldier and a spy, and during her journey she finds out her real powers and the threatening dangers of the so-called Decay, the ancient force that may have been the downfall for the island of Domes. She has to make choices that will define the world and her future – decide who to trust, who to save and who to sacrifice.
